On April 2nd North Coates Flying Club will be holding a one day Helicopter and Autogyro Fly-in at North Coates airfield, Lincolnshire Helicopter and Autogyro owners have been invited to the event with is to support the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance charity.
On 7 February it was confirmed that â subject to licensing approval â The Fighter Collectionâs Flying Legends Air Show will be moving to Leeds East Airport, the former RAF Church Fenton, in North Yorkshire. The 2023 edition of the famed warbird show, the first since its final edition at IWM Duxford in 2019, has been earmarked for Saturday 15-Sunday 16 July.
The museum website describes the event as follows: “This is our 1940s event over the weekend of the 6th / 7th of May. There will be historical re-enactors, period dress, talks and demonstrations, a vintage and memorabilia fair, as well as vintage music and dance and more. We will also be screening the Coronation of King Charles on the big screen in our conference room. All of this takes place against a backdrop of our Halifax bomber, Dakota transporter and other period aircraft â not to mention the site itself, the former RAF Elvington.”

The webpage for the event says there will be “Military/Aviation Books/ Model Kits/die-cast models and more for sale”. It also points out there will be no access to the museum that day. Plus, as the event is held outside and as such is weather dependent if it is raining the event may have to be cancelled.
The company organising the event states Flywheel is “two jam-packed days of action celebrating all things wings, wheels and motion…Flywheel will see a host of classic motoring marques join the displays along the tree-lined avenues of the historic site. Fans of vintage flight can expect an equally spectacular showcase, with a broad range of historic aircraft set to grace the siteâs grass airfield â winding back the years and commemorating the siteâs heritage as an RAF Blenheim Bomber training station.”
A special twilight taxi-run by Vulcan XL426 will commemorate the 80th Anniversary of 617 Squadron and its famous World War 2 ‘Dam Busters’ raid against the Mohne, Edersee and Sorpe dams.
The event website states: “The show is a whimsical, fascinating, amusing, curious and absolutely unique show and tell spectacle featuring some 2,000 magnificent driving, flying and working machines from the 20th and 21st centuries. The world’s coolest cars of every era and style, model-T fire engines, vintage busses, custom motorcycles, tricked out trucks, sleek streamliners, one-of-a-kind antique engines and tractors and historic military aircraft will be among the mesmerizing displays. Plans for this year’s show include a special new “Machines of Tomorrow” showcase with fascinating displays of all things to come in the next-generation of transportation â concept cars, flying cars, robotics, autonomous vehicles, EVs and more.”
