From a quick count of the figures, approximately 4038 aircraft were built in Lincoln during WW1 – It looks like there were were orders for 4295 (Ref ‘Aircraft made in Lincoln’ by John Walls and Charles Parker) – Mods, I’m not advertising the book, but credit where it’s due… They’re not my figures and I wouldn’t want it to appear that I’ve done all the hard work… I most certainly haven’t!

Production included 200 BE2’s, 800 Sopwith Snipe’s & 1975 Sopwith Camel’s.

I understand that Lincoln produced more Camel’s than anywhere else?

I also also confirm, that the 3 aircraft listed in my first post are the only 3 surviving aircraft from those built.

As well as making aircraft, Lincoln was also building aero engines and developing the tank. It’s also really interesting to know that the roots of todays ‘Shuttleworth collection’ at Old Warden originate in Lincoln.
