As TO says, it’s a good thing in many ways. The general public and the wider museum community recognise you are working to a high professional standard, funding is easier to come by and there is a certain sense of achievement and satisfaction. It also encourages a bit of introspective reflection on how you operate which is rarely a bad thing.
