I gather someone mentioned Shackleton WR977, which is definitely still at Newark Air Museum – well it was this morning when the school group was being shown round! 😀

WR977 had two spells at Avro’s Langar facility in southern Nottinghamshire.

It arrived there first in 1962 (with 1925.00 hours on the airframe) for its Phase 2 Mods, which took over a year to complete – it left on 9th April 1963.

Just over two years later WR977 left 201 Squadron on 13th July 1965 and headed back to Langar for its Phase 3 Mods, which weren’t completed until May 1966 – these included the addition of the Mk10 Lulu nuclear depth charge fit.
