Many thanks for all of the comments, which are appreciated and as much as I love Nimrods (Sorry Toddington Ted you’re wrong about them being ugly!! :D) deep down I know it is the right decision.

I’m not willing to debate all the finer points of the spares recovery issue, which is just one of several factors that I know have influenced the decision.

Some of you may have noticed my ‘fishing trip’ on this topic on one of the other Nimrod threads the other week, needless to say no additional reassuring information came forward that could be passed on to the trustees.

As some have also pointed out all of the reasons behind the decision are clearly stated in the NAM text and I would personally like to add my own good wishes to all those groups that have secured examples of this fine aircraft type. 🙂

Pure Lightning – we opted not to pursue a nose section in preference to sorting out the Ashton fuselage! 🙂
