I was saddened to hear the news about Alan – who I knew via Tim.

He always struck me as one of lifes gentlemen – a gentle man.

His anecdotes about the design of the intakes to the Olympus engines as we sat underneath the FAA Museum’s Concorde during a model display will always stay with me.

RIP Alan.
