RAF Warwick opened in December 1941 as a Relief Landing Ground in 23 Group. Church Lawford used it with Oxfords and Tutors for flying instructor training. On Oct 01 1942 18(P)AFU came into being at Church Lawford and the airfield was mainly used by Oxfords and some Ansons. At the end of May 1945 the airfield was placed on Care and Maintenance.
