Due to the distance involved in getting a team down to Culdrose, Newark opted to pay for a RAF team from St Athan to do the move – on a fixed price deal.
Good decision!
The dismantling over ran, due to the challenging access to the large number of bolts needed to effect the wing removal; I seem to recollect an approximate delay of more than 24 hours.
The museum’s restoration co-ordinator who oversaw the move and helped make the decision to seek “professional” assistance has since retired; so I couldn’t check with him.
Hasn’t a Jetstream just been taken to Brooklands – they might have a more up to date experience?
