In post No 3 the link to Hawkertempest.se has a slight inaccuracy in that they say he was in Algeria in the early 60’s.
In the preface to ‘Leo 25’ PC says…
”Leo 25 Airborne is the story of an officer in the reserve recalled for flying duties in Algeria 1956-57.It is not an autobiography,nor is it a work of fiction”
”The principle episodes in the story are authentic and taken from my own experience”

He also says that the pseudonyms and likenesses to those serving in Algeria are ‘purely coincidental’
So it is more or less an autobio with the names changed.
The book was originally published in 1960 as ‘Appui Feu sur L’Oed Hammail’
and the translation published 1962.

What is the exact translation of the original title I wonder.. any french speakers care to translate???
