”Maybe so, but because of the skyrocketing growth over the last few years, change is coming to the private aeronautical community, one of about 475 in the country.
More and more of the recent residents have no interest in flying. They bought for an investment or because it’s one of the few places with large lots or simply because it’s so green and the Wellington mall is so near. Some of the newcomers live on the perimeter and have no access to taxiways or the runway. Flying simply wasn’t on the list of reasons to buy at Aero Club.
That has caused friction. They grumble about the noise. A few have suggested curfews.
“I believe you should be a pilot or an aviation enthusiast if you want to live here,” says Green, whose real estate investments finance his airplane hobby. “You don’t have to be a pilot, but (you have to) love airplanes. If you complain about airplane noise, get out of here. You don’t belong here.”
Damn right !
