I saw G-ACSS at Old Warden three weeks ago and, yes, the intention is to fly her again. Engines were stripped down as was much of the fuselage, but with so many projects requiring attention, I guess Shuttleworth engineers have got their work cut out. The Spitfire is currently engineless, with its Merlin being overhauled and the SE-5A is almost unrecognisable, being stripped back to basics. They are rebuilding a Fieseler Storch and the Gladiator and Lysander have only just reflown again, so I guess that the Comet just has to wait its turn!
Right on nearly all counts, the Collection is not restoring PH’s Fieseler, this is being done by an engineer solely funded by PH. The spit has gone a few steps past just engine out, the wings and tail are now seperate, with lots of lovely N.D.T. to be carried out, before thoughts of reassembly.
