Though the RN do give a degree of financial support, it certainly isn’t on the same scale as the BBMF.
Swordfish LS326 hasn’t flown for several years now, and W5856’s last season was in 2003. Both aircraft have been grounded since then due to suspected corrosion in the wing main spars. Work has concentrated on LS326, which has been completely re-wired in the meantime, and the engine currently fitted to W5856 will be fitted to LS326 later this year when the wings have been returned from Brough where they have been completely refurbished thanks to BAES. W5856’s wings will follow suit.
