Good question. I am not sure which aircraft in the collection are maintained airworthy these days. I’ll see if I can find out.

This might help with the question about what flies at the CWH at Mount Hope, Ontario, Canada. I aksed Steve Tournay who lives in near-by Hamilton. He replied…

“Bobcat”? My, aren’t we the Yank today! 🙂 I’m hardly ever up at the
Hope anymore, but far as I know the flyers for ’06 are the same as last
year:

Lancaster
Canso
Firefly
Harvard
Stearman
Fury (Sandy T’s, not actually a CWH aircraft)

These plus perhaps the Beech 18. My understanding is that the DC-3 was
down most of last year. The Crane (Bobcat) was restored over a period
of nine years (1977-86) by Harry Smith and crew and first flew again in
fall 1986; it’s still nominally airworthy but I’m not sure how long
it’s been since it actually flew. Same general situation goes for most
of the other trainers. Far cry from the days when they had 40 airplanes
and all but the ones not completed yet were regularly flying…

I replied to steve…

Would you mind if I past your reply into the thread?

And Steve responded…

Wouldn’t mind at all; you can even keep in the smartass remark about being a Yank, if you like! 😉 BTW I may have forgotten one flyer, the “new” (ex-Hank Dielwart) Chipmunk may have been active last year and with 2006 being the 60th anniversary for the Chippie, I’d bet they’ll have C-FBXK on the go this year too…

Of course there’s also the Lysander, but who knows when that will fly.

So it looks like the Cessna Crane is not a flyer this year. Of course the best thing to do is to send the CWH and email if you want to be sure.
