nowadays …when I were a lad,shops had closing times and Petrol Stations sold car fuel and not much else…we were (mostly) very skinny and always outdoors .

I’ll see that and raise you half day closing on Thursdays…. I remember that well and I’m (only) 43.

In response to the original post, the soldiers I’ve seen marching at the welcome home parades seem to look Ok and fit enough. Tabloid tale, no more, no less…
