Hey remember this topic?
Thought I’d drag it up again to show my new baby. A Fender USA Precision bass along with my Ashdown EB15-180 amp that I bought last summer.
Neal
Neal, that USA Precision looks way nice with a maple fretboard.
I’ve just bought my 13th Guitar (basses included) & it’s way different from all the rest……
It’s an Ovation Legend L.777 (USA) & totally unique (for me).
The build quality & playability astounds me, it’s that good.
Till now, I’ve only been buying & collecting certain axes (mainly electric) as, being Left-Handed, the choices/options are comparitively limited.
I bought a new, Aged Cherry ‘burst Ash Deluxe (USA – maple fret), this time last year, (my fourth USA ‘Corona’ Stratocaster, all different colours & spec’s)….. as I still think USA Corona built Stratocasters are the best mix of sound/build-quality/playability & future investment potential.
In 2000, I traded in my CBS era Telecaster, which I’d bought new in Nov ’78, as a teenager ….. (cost more that my 1st car – Sunbeam Rapier!!!!).
I got £ 500 trade-in against a brand new ’99 Olympic White American Standard (my others are the newer ‘Am series’).
He may have wanted to rip my arm off for the Tele’, but at the time, I preferred my Yam Pacifica, to the Tele’, so the ’99 Strat felt in a different league.
Just over two & half years ago, I bought a beautiful secondhand 1982 Gibson Les Paul Custom, which I’d thought as a left-hander, I’d never own due to limited availability & prices, but I picked this one up via an internet dealer based near Southend.
I was so impressed with the L.P. & his service, that I later bought my Jap Fender ’62 Re-issue Jazz Bass from him (in a snazzy ‘Sea-Foam Green’).
Also collared a brand new Black Mexican Jazz Bass for a steal (£ 250) from a really good Norfolk-based E-bay trader, which I picked up from his house.
Though the wife moans I’ve got too many, she understands how difficult it is to come by good quality L/H guitars, so when G.A.S. strikes, the habit gets fed:diablo:
