Well, we are not “at war”. Or else, the UK would have been at war since the very day it existed because terrorism has always existed and will continue to exist, be it muslim-extremists or the IRA. War is when a state of war is declared, which has not happened yet. Using the word War too often may result in undemocratic scenario’s where the leaders ask too much power from parliament.
I’m not minimising this terrorist thread, in contrary. But to call it a war, that is one bridge too far IMHO. Actually that is what these terrorist try to achieve, to bring us into a permanent state of war where everyone is scared.
I see where you are coming from with this and to tend to agree but my comment was “In effect we are at war”.
The current terror situation has led to the Police and other forces needing to take new measures that would have seemed extreme a few years ago when the IRA were the threat,.
As you say the terrorists want us to be scared and thats why they use the tactics they do, They only win if we give up and let them, But if we carry on our lives they will never win. From what i have seen people are doing this and are united in this oppinion, I’m proud of people for this.
