Just a nice subculture to make people feel belonging somewhere. Like there always have been, and always will be. Some people think they are Balki Bartokomous, others think they’re Tupac. Whatever gives you confidence.

While i find a lot of today’s hiphop artists totally annoying, i think that’s mostly because i think it’s been lacking any real creativity over the last decade or so. Back in the 1980s rap/hiphop was still new and developing, and lots of creativity was involved both lyrically and musically. Nowadays, the bulk of it is just the same overproduced non-creative formula-filling crap as any other mainstream music: rip off the rhytm and one chord from a classic song, and add some “huh huh dem bitchaz huh huh”-lyrics. Thank you very much Puff Daddy for ruining hiphop.

But as long as there are still hiphop bands like Outkast around, all hope is not lost.
