JANE’S MISSILES AND ROCKETS – MARCH 01, 2005

😮 … and today is … someone can read 2 weeks into the future!

Described as being the result of co-operation by “different industrial units”, the destroyer is now in the final stages of construction. In practice, the new ship is probably a corvette. It may be the Mowj, a vessel of about 1,200 tons that was launched in October 2002 and was reported to be fitting out at Bandar Abbas. The design appears to be a development of the Alvand (Vosper Mk 5) design, four of which were delivered to what was then the Imperial Iranian Navy in 1971-72.

Alvand (Saam) class (Vosper Mk5 type) light patrol frigates:
Displacement = 1,540 tons full load

That alone makes it unlikely that Mowj is a development of Alvand.
