Hi Folks,
I noted a Beech Bonanza with registration N8731A at East Midlands Airport back in August 1983, but have been unable to find out its construction number or subsequent fate. Another photographer took a photo of it at the time:
I also noted another Bonanza (V-tailed) at Los Angeles in July 1981, registration N18385. Does anyone know details of this aircraft?
Accordint to the NTSB, N8731A suffered substancial damage on 2 Aug 1980 at Lees Summit, Missouri (a suburb of Kansas City) when the landing gear failed to extend.
It is not currently registered by the FAA.
Something odd about your seeing N18385 (Sn E-1110…a 1977 A36). According to the FAA it was cancelled from the US register on September 5,1980.
You saw it in 1981. Odd.
Also, the A-36 is a straight tail model, not a V-tail. Are you sure you have the correct number?
At any rate, N18385 does not appear to have been exported.
It may have been re-numbered.
