We had tickets to the VIP area (via Groupon!) but, because of mobility problems, didn’t visit the hangar area to “fire a gun” or “view the Spit cockpit”. The crowds weren’t too bad and an old RT London bus was provided to ferry visitors from the spectators’ area to the other, hangar end of the airfield. Plenty of 40s music to hear over the loudspeakers but it mixed badly with the live singers who sang as the “Andrews Sisters” from the back of an old lorry and confused things somewhat. The exit from the car parks was easy but the queue to the main road was diabolical so, as we live locally, we were able to take the back lanes away from the airfield.
