Many photographers in the UK seem to be eBaying their repaired 100-400’s, and are having great success with prime 300mm f2.8 (Sigma mainly).
Although one of them has reluctantly bought another 100-400mm, as he missed the flexibility of the lens. When it works great, it’s a pretty good lens.
Yes I must say that the 100-400 has out lived its time with me I feel. A good lens back I need one that always works. I was thinking a 400 as with the 70-200 plus a 1.4 converter I have 12mm right up to 560 covered, plus of course adding the 1.6 crop of the 20D, I can see for “miles and miles” as the song goes.
