I still found it strange to be standing on a former Warsaw Pact airfield openly photographing MiGs and Sukhois being put through their paces.
It can be even stranger than that. I visited Radom in 1995, when it was still operational (the Team Iskry demoteam was stationed there together with a whole bunch of regular TS11s). Without any prior notice, on a regular tuesday, we went to the gate and asked if we could get a basevisit. It was 11h55. By the time it was 12.10, we were having a cup of coffee with a few pilots, ten minutes later again we were in the main hangar, and by 12h40 we were back in our car with about fourty more Iskras logged.
Radom is good for enthusiasts. It just is.
