I should imagine with the likes of 150 ton 747’s pounding it daily something would have to give

Unfortunately, 150 ton 747s do not visit EDI daily.
The largest more regular service currently would be the Delta 767-300 to and from Atlanta.

Though 747 classics do occasionally visit, as do RAF Tristars and DC-10 tankers.
