AirAsiaX hopes to begin long-haul flights to China and Australia next month, using three leased planes, and has promised significant discounts on existing fares.

It has yet to announce its Australian destinations but speculation here is that it will start services to either the Gold Coast or Avalon in Victoria. Yesterday, industry sources tipped the first flights would be to Avalon.
