Not the first time that something similar happens. In the 80’s, an A-6E chopped several feet off a sailplane’s wing. Both got out alive too.
The Corsair pilot managed an emergency landing, with wing chunks hanging out of the air intake (in the nose of the plane for those who don’t know the A-7), and the sailplane landed too.
Fact was, the glider was in a low level military area, but he was allowed to be there. And the Corsair pilot couldn’t pick it up on radar, or see it in time.
