Cheap and nasty airport for chavs, served by airlines for chavs…

Honestly, that’s the first time I’ve heard my local described like that. Sure, Luton’s not the nicest town in the country, and it is full of what you call “Chavs”, but they rarely venture up to the airport. The area surrounding Luton is a very nice suburban middle-class area. And these are what make up almost all of the passengers travelling from the airport. I’ve caught many flights from Luton and have never had anything to complain about. The queues have always been short and delays have never been more than half an hour at most, and I’ve certainly never seen large numbers of “chavs” or anything else that might make for an uncomfortable flying experience.
In terms of spotting, Luton is probably the most enthusiast friendly airport in the south-east. Again I’ve never seen any “chavs” in or around the airport while spotting, so cannot see where your idea of Luton comes from.
Chavy airlines? I assume you mean EZ and FR? Well in comparison to uh…. say Stansted just down the road, Luton has a very low LowCost passenger count.

I’ve always considered Luton a very nice airport, It’s certainly better than anything BAA owns and is always pleasant to fly from. In terms of this charge, well I know its a little frustrating for pax, but the airport has just spent a lot of money on improvements to the terminal and it’s drop-off & Bus stop zone, and with the sudden plunge in passenger numbers they must be struggling to find the money to fund it.
