Aeroflot must have had a pretty strong interest in small jets for regional routes all along, else why would they have held onto their decrepit, fuel-guzzling Tu-134s for so long? Rossiya, well they pretty much have no history of anything, being so young, it’s anybody’s guess as to whether it was something the government had to force them into.

but anyways my chewing gum friend, think of Tu-134 not as the predecessor to the Superjet.. but that the Tu-134 is larger than the A319 and roughly the same as A320.. the latter two, despite being similar in length, offers way more seating. basically you get something the size of a Tu-134, with more seats and cheaper operating costs. it was an upgrade for them.
