Is that possible? Surely if the aircraft were near landing, the brakes would be cool anyway and if it had just taken off they wouldn’t really have been used, or am I being stupid and missing something? It wouldn’t be the first time I’d been stupid and missed something! 😀

Sometimes after departure the gear can be left down for a few reasons. Most common reason though is to cool the brakes down via the airflow. The reason they can get hot before take off is due to a long taxi, or lots of braking on a downhill taxiway.

Not sure about this particular flight though.
