wys is correct. You have to be 16 or older to fly solo, and 17 to actually get the PPL. I started when I was 14, to go solo shortly after my 16th birthday. So start early if you want to go solo on your 16th! Also, you can take all the exams before youre 17th birthday, which I hadnt realised, but you just cant get the PPL till youre 17.
