I have read LGW is really crap for spotting, I could easily spend a day at that spot 🙂

I’ve been to a good spot as well, At the end of the runway(East end), providing they land that way, there is a field there and all there is between you and the runway is a road. Very good spot.
No binoculars or anything like that needed…awesome place!!
