While writing the history of FZ668, it becomes an evidence that many other crews would have been lost this day without the sacrifice of FZ626 and F/L Wilson. German troops were holding the DZ, setting up a “flak trap” for all resupplying aircraft and F/L Wilson crashed willingly his mangled aircraft on a nest of Flak 38. He missed them but the panic following allowed other aircraft, including ours to conduct their mission and to fly back home. F/L Lord, VC crashed during the same mission.
We are restoring FZ668 to airworthy status, you can support the project here: https://www.avialogs.aero/index.php/donate
