Having watched the video I am pretty sure that it isn’t a Bristol Hercules engine…

…it looks like an American radial to me.

There is quite a bit of footage on the Goodwin Sands SOS video of steel (undercarriage?) components; maybe enough for an identification of the aircraft type at least?
