The only documentation that I have is AP 2534B Vol 1 Ch 5 dated 1948.

Attached is a dated RAF memo which mentions the control unit in June 1944.

The SBA system was used in many bombers – not sure about fighters but as the Pilot would have controlled the unit you have it might be best to look at cockpit pics of aircraft of interest.
