It’s an example of what the Conservative Heath Government stitched us up with in 1971. No-one ever voted for decimalisation, and the British public were never even asked if they favoured the change.
The road to decimalisation was started by the Wilson Labour Government who wanted to show De Gaulle how European we wanted to become… and eventually led to us joining the common market which morphed into what is now the Brussels dictatorship… ‘er, sorry, the European Union.
The coin showed is the latest example of the five pence piece (A useless lump of metal if ever there was one.) It was introduced as an equivalent of the old English shilling, and now, is worth about three Aussie cents.
