Hello again,
Work is progressing to erect the memorial to the crew of Lancaster PB565 at the crash site near Owston Ferry, North Lincs.

At the time of the crash, most of the visible wreckage was taken away by the RAF Recovery Team but the starboard outer engine was not recovered from the riverbed into which it fell. It was pulled out in the mid 80’s by a group of local people and went to a small museum or collection at Nostell Priory.

When that closed the collection including this engine went to the museum at Firbeck, South Yorks. When that closed, most of the artefacts came to the Aeroventure Museum in Doncaster but it seems that ‘our’ engine went into the collection of Ken Ward.

Can anyone help me with what happened next or where it might be now? Is Mr Ward still around? Was his collection dispersed?

We would dearly like a photo of this engine and to know where it might be now.

To be fair to everyone, please don’t post personal information on here but if anyone could PM me with a potential lead on this engine, the people working to fund and place this memorial would be most grateful. I have the engine serial number and would be happy to verify my own credentials as a legitimate enquirer with anyone who has any info.

regards,
