An amusing story regarding Omani Jaguars. I worked at Warton throughout my career. Back in 1980 or thereabouts, a pal I worked with in Systems Engineering was sent out to Oman to help solve a problem they were having with the Jaguar NAVWASS. Whilst assessing the problem he was sitting in the crewroom talking to the pilots. One of them said ‘I assume working at Warton you must have flown in the Jaguar many times’. Jim replied ‘No, it’s very hard to get a flight’. The pilot called out to one of the others ‘Can he borrow your helmet?’, to Jim ‘Come with me’, and led him out to a waiting twin-seat Jaguar. The safety briefing was limited to ‘Try not to touch anything’ and ten minutes later they were airborne!
