Hi All,
hampden,
Great post another true hero from WWII lets just hope that he and his fellow airmen achieve the legendary status that other pilots have, the way he was treated at the end of the war must be the worse though. Having gone through the training then fighting WWII and despite proving they were as good in the cockpit as anybody else, the airmen return home were it looked to all intense and purpose that time had stood still as far race relations were concerned.
It must have seemed to have been a complete waste of time ? Good enough to fly and fight but not good enough to be treated like a human being who had actually tried to make a difference for other benefit, you would have thought they would have been treated for what they were HEROS.
RIP Mr Steward and many thanks to all of your fellow pilots of the Tuskegee Aircrew.
Geoff.
