Yes, but, it`s not in th Mere it`s in “The Bog”

in the last part of D1556,s question Ellesmere,s Mere is mentioned. its not in a bog or otherwise..

many years ago there was a Civvy DC3 that crashed in a dive into a bog in Snowonia, parts of the aircraft and a few bodies were still on the surface when the aircraft was found hours later. many bits of wreckage on the surface were taken away only a few years ago becouse people were risking life n limb to grab parts of it. the area is now fenced off. even today fresh bits of aircraft/cargo manage to find thier way to the surface.

there was also a Halifax in Mid Wales that crashed into a bog and there are still parts lying around if you know where to look.

im sure there would have been wreckage,dinghy,life jackets and all manner of flotsam and jetsam that can float apart from bits of aircraft that would sit on the muddy surface including oil and fuel slicks which are quite distintive and smelly. theres so many parts on a big aircraft like a Lanc that would break away and given that the Shropshire airspace in WW2 would be crowded with aircraft from several local airfields im sure something would have been spotted.. farmers aint daft either, they will spot a broken bit of barbed wire or a lame animal from miles away so to miss some like a Lanc in your back yard????????
