I’ve just watched the BBC I-Player BB2 5pm 25 June programme on the unveiling. The BBC at it’s BEST. A very moving programme.
The veteran who, after having lost a brother, family and friends, said that now there was a memorial, he felt ‘different’, and I sort of knew what he was getting at – he was smiling.
The roof made from parts of a melted down Halifax (my Grandfather’s type), it’s design reflecting geodetic construction, the opening in the centre, the care put in to the statues, and the wreath made by a DFC veteran – words almost fail me.
