anti mist tin

when i was in an atc gliding school (615 kenley) the goggles (winch driving) were supplied in a carboard box with a tin like this.
the goggles (mk7 or 8) were supposed to be used to protect the winch drivers eyes from cable fragments.
in practice the goggles were always snapped up by the gliding instructors and the winch drivers never wore them.
many years later when i flew aircraft that needed goggles i found they were very poor in practice, and a good pair of ski type masks worked very well.
the truth is the mk7,& 8 glasses looked the part, but were always very prone to misting up when you needed them most, mainly due to the glass being very close to the eye,and not having good ventilation.
our boxes contained both clear, and tinted lens, and i lent mine to the late neil williams when he needed a pair to fly the pup one day.
