Hi All,

 I just found this compiled list of Me 109’s projects either Airworthy / Static:- restored / Under restoration / Parts Of Aircraft etc. etc, if any of it will help you with the I.D. of particular Me 109E aircraft ?  I have checked and will admit that it is not up to date as at least one has flown if not more since the list was compiled.

The list of extent airframes/parts etc. etc. makes for some good reading and gives an insight into exactly what is out there regards this particular aircraft type and the preservation work carried out, 

The future looks quite good for possible airworthy examples that are on the go IMHO,  but as so many have pointed out it all comes down to the £/$’s at the end of the day so for me it’s fingers crossed.

Of particular note (Ref this forum thread) are the airframes restored or passed on by Charleston Aviation Services and the current restoration at Meir Motors:- 

Bf 109E-7 / 854 / England / SD – Project owned by Charleston Aviation Services

Bf 109E-1 / Germany / – CR /6-88/C.5-88/C.4E-88 – Reported to be under restoration at Meier Motors in Germany. Recovered from Spain in 1983 previously on show at Tangmere Aviation Museum.

Bf 109E-3 / 1342 / England / CR / Yellow 8 – 6/JG51 – G-BYDS – N342FH – 1,5 wings, main spar and u/c legs were recovered from a beach in France in 1988. Extensively rebuilt. Under restoration by Charleston Aviation Services, for Flying Heritage Collection in Seattle, USA. Previously with Alpine Deer Group, Wanaka, NZ. 

Bf 109E-7 / 1983 / England / CR – Red ? 5/JG – Under restoration to flying condition by Charleston Aviation Services for German client.

Bf 109F-4 / 8347 / England / SD / Yellow 10 – 6/JG54 / Owned by CW Tomkins Ltd. Will be restored by Legendary Aircraft at Györ in Hungary. Ex Charleston Aviation, Essex.

Bf 109G-6 / 15458 / England / SD / III/JG 1 – Black 10 of 8/JG 1 / Owned by CW Tomkins Ltd. Will be restored by Legendary Aircraft at Györ in Hungary. Ex Charleston Aviation, Essex.
