My good friend is Jack Blocki’s son Mike. He recently gave me a copy of his Dad’s book ‘First Tango in Warsaw’ to read which I found fascinating. I met Jack a few times on his visits from his home in Cyprus to Sedgefield, Co Durham where we both live.

Prior to meeting Jack I had served 12 years in RAF as an Aircraft Electrician. Jack always spoke highly of his groundcrew and repeats this in his book. We had long conversations over a few beers but he never spoke about his many exploits in the air and on the sea.

Mike told me that his Dad hardly spoke about his flying days and found out about his Dad’s wartime service from the book.
