North Creake Stirlings

Hi all

I wonder if anyone out there has any info relating to 199 Sqn or indeed any links to anything that could help.

Please help, this will gain me severe brownie points so I can spend more time restoring the cub and get it back in the air, rather than doing the DIY at home

Hi FB, small contribution to your “brownie-points” mission, but if it’s any help

199 Sqdn used to operate their Stirlings out of North Creake, in Norfolk

The Airfield is located on the B.1105 Rd, that runs from Wells-next-Sea, thru’ to Fakenham, with numerous WW.II buildings & surrounding pill-boxes surviving…….

The Base is now used by an ‘Aggregates’ Company

Curiously enough, the airfield isn’t exactly close to North Creake village, which is located on the B.1355 Rd, quite some few miles to the West !!!!!!

Their Short Stirlings wore the codes ‘EX’ on the fuselage sides……

(An example of which, is EX*L the subject of the famous ‘Old’ Airfix kit)
