Also lets put this into perspective… knowing the problems of scramjets this was probably a rocket the launched a small attached scramjet engine up to a speed where the latter could operate. If the entire flight was 10 minutes the Scramjet would have been operating for maybe 30 seconds at most. If I could get a turbojet engine to run for 30 secs would you say it was ready yet?

Of course don’t get me wrong… it is certainly a step forward… and good news for Australia. (If they taken the Sukhoi deal this could be part of a hypersonic long range Advanced AAM program with major input from Russian designers, some of whom have vast experience with ramjet engines.)
