I just typed a long reply but lost it somehow… here’s my synopsis. Bins should not be increased in size as it only encourages more luggage. The 777 has bins to sleep in. BAd news.
Someone has regulated the iron maiden so that she appears all over the world however it is the implementation that is inconsistent. I dont mind checking my wheely bin when I know it contains 3 litres of scotch and a kilo of brie along with my regular stuff. Lifting that up and down from the bins after a few inflight bevvies is too much to handle. Many airlines in Asia (also BA these days) are getting tough on this and will take bags off you at the gate if it looks too big or too heavy. This has my support as a passenger who sits in the back
