1/144th scale

I have spent two years building 1/144th scale models of all the aircraft that I worked on in the RAF from 1954 to 1959, or did structural design work on from 1959 to 1995.
Mostly these are vac-formed kits, but I now wish to build those that are not produced in kit form. Currently I am carving from balsa a Jet Provost and the Italian AMX. Can anyone tell me where to obtain scale wheels and canopies?
I also want a C5 Galaxy kit, but cannot trace one anywhere. I am not sure that a balsa wood carving could be made strong enough. All my models stand on their under-carriages in a diorama.
