Sorry Moggy – dont mind at all! Didnt know there was a model forum actually!
Just got the kit – its great, cant grumble for a tenner. Think detailling the interior will be interesting, but hell, will give it a go, think it will build up to be a quite impressive model. At the very least will install some windows – acetate should fit fine if i leave a ‘step’ when cutting the filled areas out….
cheap as chips!

@TEXANTOMCAT
after >starfire< had posted the pic from my bought Beaver kit (in the other forum my nick is Avanti, cause I like this canard too), I have tried to put it together first time.
Some parts like the fus and wings snap together very good, the floats also. But the floatstruts are the hell. They are too thin for stability and the holes in the floats will not fit.
I got my Beaver over US-Ebay for a very big price. Nearly the price for 2 GWS-Beavers (Parkflyers). But this item is so seldom, I had to buy it (said my freakdevil).
You can find pics of the 1/24 model over Google-pics.
Kind Regards,
Ernst

TT.
Hope you didn’t mind me moving this?
Since we have a model forum now it seemed worth putting it here.

Yes,I built one 20 years ago as well. It was originally designed by a advertising/promotions firm for a Canadian whiskey…they were originally designed to be hung in wine shops….and perhaps bars (not being a drinker I don’t frequent them, UK pubs: yes, US bars: no).
I left mine yellow (the colour of many “Bush” planes) but trimmed it in red and detailed the engine. The floats were painted a dull silver with black walkways. I even painted the paddle brown.
It was a nice, albeit large, display piece. Several years later, I gave it to a friend who ran an aviation memorbilia shop and was under contract to decorate an aviation themed resturant in Dayton, Ohio…where I hope it still resides.

But to clarify, there has been an advert from the folks that make ’em, in the classified section of the American ‘Fine Scale Modeller’ magazine (distributed by Comag in the UK of late) for many, many years on & off…. long before even the internet perhaps ?
Yes, itΒ΄s the same kit, should be around 20 years old now.

TT,
Yes, i’ve been after one of these for a loooong time, thanks.

Anyhow, they only ever accepted payment by cheque or money order in US funds, and even to this day with credit cards, Paypal etc, etc…. still stick to this method.
Thanks for finding an ‘easy-ordering’ source, as here is said advert…..

Sorry, forgot youΒ΄d have to register at the forum.
Trying to translate … The kit seems to be ok, the surface features fine rivets and it seems, there is only very few … sanding(?) necessary. However, it lacks all interior and clear window parts. I think this would be most challenging (at least for me).

Sorry Chris, tried the link and got stuck at a german registration page!
Even so, would be a good basis for a bit of scratch building dont ya think?

It is more or less a huge snap-kit with black decals for the windows. Here is a picture of the sprues.
