1/48 engines

I’ve seen engines and propellers listen on the Hannants website, does anyone know if the engines are models of the full engine, or just the front face like you normally get with a kit? I’d love to have real Bristols in my Beaufighter, and a Gypsy major in my Auster, even though you can’t see it, but just wondered if you actually get the whole thing. Cheers, Rob

1/48th Engines

i found this picture of the Corsair P&W unit, it looks like a ‘stock’ engine straight out of the kit, however the builder has added a scratch built ignition harness out of what seems to be fine copper wire. you could probably do much the same to your bristol units (or any radial come to think of it) without too much trouble……… Hope this helps 😉

Aries do some good resin and etched metal engines for most inlines and V’s but as for radials… i’m not sure where to start  i’ve seen some good renditions using radial engines from stock tamia kits with scratch built ignition harness & oil pipes etc… maybe this is the way to go?? i will be soon starting a 1/48 tamia Do335 with an engine kit.. this is a photo of someone else’s but mine will look something like this 😀
