$100 Hamburger

The other day I launched a new website designed to list attractions and restaurants near airports throughout the US. This is a user based website that is completely free, no passwords, no user-names, just free information. Obviously because the site is so new not many pilots have posted information yet. We hope you can check out http://www.brakesoff.com and add any information to the database.

We hope the site will grow over the next few years to be a valuable resource for pilots. This site will always remain free and open to the aviation community. No forums, so I’m not out to compete with this forum.

Thanks,
http://www.brakesoff.com

That is definitely a step in the right direction – good on you. However, it takes a lot of clicks and hunting to find out what dining facilities there are around.

I guess I was thinking more of a specific restaurant/cafe directory.

Each thread is specifically for an airfield so it should build up into a good source of information. I will look into creating something similar an the site if pilotots has no objection.

pilotots: perhaps you wouldn’t mind contacting me on msn messenger or pm me if you would like me to set up a section on my site as a UK branch of yours. Again this would be a totally free service for the UK guys

Regards

I’m going to enjoy contributing to this.

Tis a pity that there isn’t something similar for the UK.

There is. If you go to http://www.ppluk.info/forums there is a section called airfield directory which is especially for users to add their favourite airfields in the UK.

Not a competitor to this excellent site as it is aimed at UK PPL pilots 🙂

We have just modified our pages listing airports by state to now indicate airports with restaurants and attractions, this should make it easier to find local airports worth flying to.

Looks useful.

I think we can consider this as ‘information’ rather than ‘advertising’
