100 years of flying at Hendon

Do you think they will celebrate 100 years of flying at Hendon? No doubt rules will limit any sort of flypast. Or yuppies objecting, living in those hideous flats.

When was the last airshow at Hendon?

Hahaha, not wrong there! I once got the bus from outside the RAFM to Asda – unfortunately it made a tour of the council estate before coming out at the same roundabout it entered, first time i’ve ever seen ten feet tall steel fences surrounding a primary school! Was rather amused by the dog kennel as a play thing in the playground with an old mail sack as an entrance

With a bit of luck the flats being built will help reguvenate the area (sorry can’t spell, just had a night out in Leicester Square!), at the moment Colindale is just a huge building site with a tube station in the middle, the nearest pub is a mile away and even then it’s a lousy wetherspoons

Yuppies? In Hendon?

I think some of you need a little London geography lesson! You have obviously never visited the estate built on the old aerodrome!

re

I detest yuppies, having grown up in a really nice neighbourhood that in a space of 5 years was butchered by those who wish to make wealth more important than manners. All of the nice ex services types were replaced with tacky ignorant peaple who “couldnt be seen in last years reg of car”. Whose kids ran riot and drove the rest of us from the playing fields, going on drunken rampages till they were old enough to get cars and p**s off, not quick enough!

Serves them right for what, being able to afford to live somewhere nice? I sure wish I could! If anywhere’s haunted at Hendon i’d imagine it’s the place i’m living, in the past year alone there’s been three deaths (including a guy that hung himself two doors down), let alone any aviators that flew from here and died all those years ago

yuppies will moan at anything. There were ghastly flats being built a year ago when I last visited. Serve em right if the buildings are haunted.

Yes, plently of airliners fly around leaving the stacks but Hendon is about 5 miles out on the Northolt centreline. The flight path takes them over the police training college.

Are you sure? Plenty of noisy jet airliners fly over my place regularly

Seeming as Hendon is on the approach to Luton airport that’ll probably rule out flypasts, and i’d be surprised that if there was any flypasts there would be any yuppies complaining, as the flats haven’t been built yet!

Don’t know if they’re doing anything for the 100th anniversary of powered flight in Britain, but I know they’re wheeling out a few vehicles and aircraft from the CGW hangar for the 90th anniversary of the RAF in April which should be a pretty good event
